i just received the fl600 monolight from adorama yesterday and so far am very satisfied , quality , finish etc .. i was very pleased

got the stand with boom extension not quite as pleased.. i wont go to much into how it looks in terms of finish on it but .. 2 issues i'm having i m just not sure if its me doing something wrong..

so i made a quick video demonstrating , as i may not explain it correctly ..

https://youtu.be/8KzxikN2HFw (external link)

first you'll see if i pick it up to move it from top it doesnt stay together , there is no obvious knob that tightens those two sections.. not that i can figure out..
'
then theres that peice at the end where you would attach lighting to .. in one way it goes all the way in ,,, in the other it wont./ it apperars there some metal burr in there that should have been filed down??

any help would be appreciated ,, would hate to return just to find out i was doing something wrong

I'd just send it back and get a Cheetah Boom from CheetahStand.

I looked at your video and this is lack of quality control. The collar has two screws. The lower one is for the outer tube and is rotated by a tool.
Clearly they have supplied the wrong spigot and if you can't srew it in from the top. This is very unusable but you never know.

As for the first part. I believe it's a loosen set screw issue. Underneath the twist knob is a hex set screw that keeps the top of that section together with the column. Tighten it and see if that solved the problem. If so, I'd apply some blue thread lock to keep it in place.

Not putting down your statement just adding to it

On those kinda stand there is a shim and since it lifts up like that its missing, just tightening the screw will not help with out the shim. I would check your box to look for a little grey metal shim it will be about inch long and half inch wide.

I would contact Adorama about the whole thing to see what they want to do.

So i managed to "fix" both issues .. for the peice to fit in I used a hack saw blade to clean out the metal, it wasn't that difficult reallly, literally 4 easy movements and it cleaned right up (I don't own a metal file).. however , I really shouldn't have had to do that. .
Same with the metal shim, I guess it fell out .. as it was just in there loose..popped it in , easy enough, but again I shouldn't have had to. .
Now I'll also mention , aside from being very dusty , that there are little scratches and marks a all over .. only noticeable upon close inspection, but , this thing is supposed to be new, a mark here and mark there is one thing .. but this is more than just a spot or two..it's just cosmetic but still..it's annoying

This is the 3rd flashpoint item I've gotten, I was very satisfied with the first two in every regard,, this one however was a big disappointment. .now that it's fixed I'm satisfied with how it functions for the money paid , but I really will think twice before ordering another FP stand

Yeah... I can relate to your frustration. yes, it's not a Manfrotto. But if you got a good working unit, it's pretty close. I bought 2 of their Flashpoint nano portable stands and they have been real work horses. I take them everywhere to use with Godox Ad360 strobes. It's a gamble...
