Driving around the countryside near border with Belarus this weekend and came across a village that was almost completely abandoned. Really cool place if you like derelict buildings. Going back again soon to get better pics.

Nice series and pleasant post processing.

I reckon it can be one of those villages emptied after Chernobyl disaster.

Not one of the villages abandoned after Chernobyl but pretty close.

I actually work at Chernobyl so I am very familiar with the exclusion zone there as I drove through it every day for 1.5 years. I have been to Prypiat which was the main town for Chernobyl that was abandoned 3 days after the fire. really interesting place to be living and working.

Do you still need rad badges and such to access Prypiat and surrounding areas? or have things "cooled off" enough for safer passage?

Nicely captured series, btw.

You need special permission to go to Prypiat and everyone inside the exclusion zone wears film badges to monitor their dose but in general it is pretty safe around there nowadays.

There are several thousand people working on site every day so its not really quite as most people imagine it to be. Obviously the villages around in the exclusion zone, the forest etc are not the nicest places in the world to be but there is loads of wildlife thriving there. We would see elk, wild boar, eagles, turtles, snakes and many many other things almost daily commuting back and forth to site.

Really interesting place to be.
