got this little fellow on the pond at a nearby park this afternoon (4/14)... he swam off when i first appeared, as wood ducks do, but once i got set up and he saw i wasn't a threat, he came back in close... REAL close! like, less than 20 feet, which is very rare for a woodie! combine that with some nice, soft light and some beautiful reflected colors on the water, and it was just too good an opportunity to pass up! these images are straight from the camera, no cropping, just resized and sharpened a bit for the web...

Beautiful Rocky! If one of these colorful guys showed up here, all my mallards , pintails and northern shovelers would pack up and leave!

The only ones I ever see are way up in the sky, These are great to see up close. Coupled with the reflections these are a real standout. Great shots indeed!

Beautiful set, may need to tweak #3 to be a bit more level. Reverse one, and it makes a great triple on the wall.
