I have old Sigma 30mm f1.4 lens which is calibrated. I bought 30mm art version from a member here.
Am I going to notice any improvements in IQ. I am actually not using 30mm prime much. Kinda impulsive purchase. Are there any focussing issues with art version. I have 70d with MFA functionality available.

You'll have to test both lenses side-by-side, and let US know.

That is what I was thinking. I have the EX version and I have never thought about upgrading to the Art. I am very happy with mine. It might be different if I needed the dock the new one could use, but the focusing on my EX is spot on.

I may sell it at some point but it will be to change it to something full frame comparable when or even if that time comes. The only crop lens that is similar that I might trade my EX for would be the 18-35/1.8.

According to LensRentals you should see sharper edges and corners. And the 9 blade aperture means 18-pointed sun stars rather than 8 for the old 30. If you use manual focus you will most likely like the Art more.

Thanks for the feedback. After getting art one, I will do some comparison. I will take pics at F1.4, 2.0 and 2.8, post it here using tripod and same exposure settings. I never done lens comparisons before. Would like to try this time.

Thanks

Subscribing. Im curious to the difference to these. Ive been interested in getting the original, but might put a little bit more money into the art.

I got lens some time back. I started using it. I noticed that Focus is not working properly if subject is not close. If subject is close, I am still missing some. But able to get subject in focus lot of times. There are lot of missed focus shots with subject is little far. Not sure If something wrong with lens or 70d. What I am missing here. Any help? I am thinking of contacting seller if there is something wrong with Lens.

When subject is close, it worked fine.

I have a 70D and the original Sigma 30mm f1.4 so am following too. Not sure what to say about your focus results with the art -- reviews are pretty good on it.

Hi,
Looks like it is always front focusing. I tried doing +10 MFA which did not help either. I have taken this using live view with wide open.
