Those look great! I would be happy with those. I really like the last one, I have fun with those shots where the ball is in transit between players.

Now that you have a baseline of settings that work a bit better, you can experiment each game to see how different changes work for the venue you are shooting in.

Also, you can now experiment with different types of framing, whether you go really loose and then tighten up composition during post, or if you get "in their faces" with a longer zoom, etc. Once you get past the technical stuff like ISO, shutter speed, etc, you can have fun with these more creative things.

Yes, shooting in a new gym should be fun! Volleyball is fun too, but pretty tough, kids get all turned around and my timing is always off.

May I suggest the following edits to your pic, I LOVE her expression and I can see how the lighting is really problematic, but hopefully these help.

This assumes you have photoshop:

1. Use the level tool, and select the middle eyedropper. Click on on one of her gray sleeves.
2. Change the center slider value to 1.25. Hit okay.
3. Go to Hue/Saturation and set the saturation to +15.
4. Go to Unsharp mask: Amount = 20, radius = 5, threshold = 0
5. Go to Smart Sharpen: Gaussian blur, .2 radius at amount 100

These are pretty mild edits, but perhaps you like the changes, or can try different values. If you don't have PS, and instead Elements or LR, I am no longer going to be very useful.

A few from the last game I shot last Wed. night. Nothing real great this game. I did play around with my old Sigma 17-50 F/2.8 under the basket to get a little wider than the Canon 24-70 F/2.8 II because of the crop factor of my 7DII.
