You guys and your well lit gyms make me sick. I regularly shoot at 1/800th, f/2 and ISO 12800. :-P

New season has started!

QUOTED IMAGE

I shoot 98% of my hoops in portrait but it seems that when I opt for landscape, they always trun out to be my favorites. You just demonstrated that really well here!

I had a really good day yesterday. Both of my kids played great and I got some good shots to boot.

nicely done but one word to really help these, fix your horizons. its so easy in post so there's no reason to ever not do it.

been away from shooting hoops for a while but sine my two youngest are now playing I began shooting it again. This is a bit of a cross post but I wanted to join the mix here. All of these are shot with micro 4/3rds gear (Olympus OMD EM5 MkII and Olympus 75mm f1.8). I've been determined to get a system down for settings, shooting and processing that would make the tiny mirrorless setup workable for indoor sports (still shooting DLSR outside). I'm not fully there yet but getting closer.

The high school in town installed LED lights this year. I was happy to realize it when I took photos at a game a few weeks ago. I hesitated to do much basketball because the light was so poor, but with the new LED lights, I may have to go much more often now!

A three pointer to tie the game as time ran out. Did it go in?

Awesome photo either way.

Some shots from McNeese's Women's Basketball game this past Monday. Three of these are wider shots I took from behind the baseline near the basket, I took them with my 24-70mm F/2.8 II. I did take other tighter shots with my 70-200mm F/2.8 II.

I bought a 6DII hoping that its autofocus will be good enough. I've only been able to shoot one game and the action was slow, so the jury is still out. Anyway, the player with the ball is my daughter Sophie. Midway through the game, the other team became short handed so they allowed Sophie's half-sister to come out of the stands to play. They are 3 years apart so this is probably the only time they will ever face each other on the playing field in any sport. Mom and half of Step-dad's face can be seen in the background.

As for the 6DII, I'm impressed with the lack of noise on high ISO Jpegs. Will know more about the autofocus when the league resumes after the holidays.
