Gents I grew up competitive swimming from the age of 5 on til the end of high school. These photos are wonderful and took me on a serious trip down memory lane. Thank you so much for sharing and I hope you continue to do so!

Love the top images. Not trying to insult all the other images in this thread, but as someone who has shot swimming, it is really hard to come up with an images that is even slightly unique. You've seen one.... you've seen most of them. They are all good.... just don't stand out. The top shot is at least unique and not in the mold of every other shot.

Thank you for the comments. I agree that most shots tend to look similar. I think that's why I was not really motivated to shoot this past weekend, and decided to change it up a bit. I'm approaching the end of my swim photography since my daughter is graduating from high school in couple weeks and moving on to college. She'll most likely swim with her club through the end of July. It's been fun. I'll miss the relationships I have with the other parents and seeing the other kids compete.

I agree too about same-old/same-thing. Our season has been done for a month now and one more week until school is out. Our coach likes the photos as a teaching tool mainly. When the season starts, I try and capture the kids swimming. As the season progresses I try and get more creative shots.

She has another year so I'll be shooting at least one more year.

Yep, unique is a challenge. I just shot the team's action shots last night (folks sign up for a sitting fee, and I shoot all the strokes). I can't afford to do too much creatively because I have to move the customers through.

One note: it's like doing 100 burpees with a 7 lbs. kettlebell in 100F heat. Note that I normally do approximately zero burpees, and my bike training only gets me so much grace. Sore today, as expected.

I'll post up the expected shots in a week or two after I get some traction on processing.

Some highlights from the big day. I shot 20 swimmers, all four strokes. Pretty much amounted to ~50 burpees with a 7 lbs. kettlebell O_o

These are great! I assume you folks are prone on the deck for most of these?

My knees don't bend, so I'm either standing or sitting...

Yeah, I'm prone for this set. I usually lay two Thermarests on the deck, and lay down on those. It's a lot of up-down-jog-squat stuff, 4 hours, usually in 95-100F heat, so it's pretty taxing, and employs muscles I don't often use (pretty much just a cyclists here).

For me, I'm either standing or on a knee.
