I have a Canon 7D, original version. I have a pair of Canon EP-E6 batteries and a pair of Wasabi LP-E6 batteries. I use a Mieke MK-7D with my 7D. Today, put my freshly recharged Canon batteries back into the battery pack and found my recharge performance only one bar. Does that mean that my Canon batteries are due for replacement. My Wasabi batteries shows three bars when I recharge them. Is it bad to leave batteries in the camera when not in daily use or for a couple of weeks? I am not sure why my Canon batteries drop down to one bar so soon.

My original 60D LP-E6 was down to 1 red bar in less than 6 months. I used it for another 2 years, maybe 10,000 frames. I was still getting 500+ frames per charge when I sold the 60D and that battery. I think Canon just added that feature in an attempt to sell more batteries... for Wasabi. I've got two Wasabi's that still show 3 green bars. The original LP-E6s for my 6D and 70D are already down to 2 green bars. (The Wasabi one are two years old.)

Hi, Thank you for your replies. My Canon batteries are less than 3 years old with very light use. Now they are in the RED. I will keep on shooting with them until they are dead. Yes, the Wasabi is still green. I will hold off on buy new batteries for now. I am thinking, if I need new batteries, I will stick with the Wasbi batteries.

Did you take the grip off and put the batteries directly into the camera to see if you get the same results. If not, try it. It's possible that your third party battery grip could be the issue. I have 5 year old LP-E6 batteries that were used regularly over the years and still charge over 90%.

I put a Vello Grip on my 5DIII and with batteries fully charged the indicator dropped one bar after only a few shots. Later it showed only one bar. I cycled the power on the camera and the charge showed full charge.

So I agree with mvsilver. The third party grip may show a false battery charge. I still like the grip and just realize that I am getting a false value on the battery level.

Hey, for the price savings I can live with that. Otherwise the grip is great.
