Sometimes low light with a splash of sun adds a bit of magic. A couple of Great Blue Heron portraits. I metered for the highlights and let the everything else fall as it may.

(3 edits in all) | Apr 18, 2016 03:29 | #7 love the lighting....almost like a theatre/stage spotlight been used ......Used to see heaps of that sort of lighting shot in the older National Geographic Magazine dense jungle/ vegetation wildlife shots but dont see it as much thesedays .....Maybe because Digitals DR has been abysmal until last couple of years .. ..To me catching this sort of lighting is a great way emphasise the surroundings as well as bird. I especially like image 2 and the patch of light on the ground detail which when combined with subject lighting just make]s the whole image look so interesting and special Clipper

Apr 21, 2016 10:52 | #8 Thanks very much everyone for the kind comments. The light was brief so it was a good feeling to capture it at its best. Sometimes things come tougher which makes those times when it doesn't a bit more tolerable. Steve
