focus off?

I just picked up a Sony E35f1.8 for my a6300, and took a shot of my ruler on an angle, focusing on the "6" mark.
It looks like it's front-focusing by a little bit.
Is it within tolerance? I've never owned a 1.8 lens before.
If I exchange it, I could get one that's worse, I guess, and would have to keep exchanging them.
Don't know what to do.

You need to focus on an upright target parallel to the camera and lay the ruler next to it..
The way you have done it does not guarantee the camera will have focused exactly where you intended it to...

I'll test it again when I have more time, but it does look like it's front focusing.

It certainly looks like it is front focusing...I don't think you can adjust focus on the Sony bodies can you ?.
If not,the only solution would be to exchange the lens..

No, You can't adjust Sony lenses.

I didn't think it was possible for a mirrorless lens to have front or back focus issues do to the nature of having the focus system on the sensor itself. Maybe someone else can elaborate, I make no claims as an expert
