Burros at Red Rock Canyon, Nevada

This is one of my favorite areas outside Las Vegas. It is about a 20 minute drive from the city.

Mine, too. I've only seen burros a couple of times, though, and not very close. I've seen Bighorn Sheep at the Willow Springs stop.

We rescued a pair of these guys through a BLM program decades ago, when I was growing up. They were some interesting (and INCREDIBLY patient but stubborn) critters; perfectly happy to simply wander the pasture and graze while I and my friends would attempt to ride/lead them around. Probably because we were required to brush them before we could do anything else and they really liked that. They are also extremely LOUD :p
