Over the years I've built a small collection of photo books that I enjoy. They range from pocket-sized to pretty damn large, and now that I've moved into a new place I wonder how you guys present them in your homes. My shelves and bookcases are too small to hold the largest books (those that are like 20" deep) and besides they're almost full already. I thought about some kind of presenter but that can only take, well, one book.

Where do you keep your photo books? Like any other books in a bookshelf, or do you have any more elaborate ideas?

Are these books of your own photos, or photos books you have with other peoples photos?

I have several vacation books on a book shelf, I also have larger ones under the coffee table, a few on the end tables. I even have some mounted on custom made brackets on the wall next to other pictures from the same trip. Lastly I have several books in a box in the closet with other important items.

Custom bookcases are my personal favourite. Ideally glass fronted just to keep the dust down as much as possible. Size the spacing, with a little extra room for anything in the future that might be 'just a little larger', and then take up excess space that isn't yet full of books on the large format shelf with things like pottery or old cameras, whatever you like for physical art. Just keep it to stuff that you could easily store somewhere else later down the line. After all, the only real purpose for anything that isn't a large format book on your large format bookcase is to take up visual space and keep it from looking empty till it eventually gets filled with books.
