Putting this in a new thread just in case missed in the ongoing AD600 thread;

Is there a special procedure to follow when updating the firmware on the AD600M? I'm running fw 1.4 trying to upgrade to 1.5. Installed the firmware on a Windows 7 machine. Seemed to install fine as did the drivers (green check boxes next to the DLLs that get written).

I then plugged in the AD600 and my machine doesn't recognize a device as if the mini-usb port is disabled. I tried connecting while the power on the light was off, and tried it while it was on, same thing.

I did. I also tried a powered usb hub, and different cables. Also plugged in my XT1 to make sure it wasn't something with the usb drivers under windows.

So, you are saying it should be recognized as soon as it's plugged in, nothing to initialize on the flash itself right?

look inside the micro usb and see if the pins are there. It should be all black inside with a little pin strip. If you see nothing but silver you broke the micro usb port and that's not a factory defect, that means you forced the Micro USB plug in and broke it. Shake it and check if you hear a rattle.

The port looked/looks fine. That said, I took a .008 feeler guage and move it a bit.

Also, i tried connecting to my computer without the AD600s battery connected.. This seem to do the trick, Computer found it, software updated to 1.5.

Did I miss something? Was I suppose to disconnect the battery?

As it said in the instructions remove the battery, hold the ON button for 2 sec and then install the micro usb cable.

ok, so i did miss it. Looked in the manual, and didn't see anything, then assumed the instructions contained in the FW were all in Chinese. Whoops.
