Equipment
Canon 6d multiple lenses,
Metz flash
Pocket Wizard triggers.
I have an 40 year old umbrella that is getting pretty dirty
So I'm looking to get something to modify the Metz with a box, beauty dish or new Umbrella.
I want to start doing some baby pictures, outdoor and indoor portraits. Just wanted some comments on a good modifier. Pluses and minuses. I know that one off camera flash is pretty minimal but its better then nothing.
Thanks.
Heya,
Get a boom capable stand, and consider something like 31" brolly box (it's an umbrella with an attachable screen making it more like a softbox, but portable and light weight like an umbrella). Use a s-bracket for speedlites to mount it. I really like the Godox 31" brolly box (you can get it on Amazon for $20). I use the Godox s-bracket to mount it (umbrella mount after all). The light output is event, nice, and the modifier is light and portable. Handles really well on a boom so you can suspend over subjects (like babies).
For a 2nd light, a simple umbrella as a 2nd fill source of hair light is a great way to go, like a 43" westscott umbrella. Or, just grab another brolly box!
I use them indoor & outdoor, great results. Wonderful inexpensive modifiers. It's to the point where I stopped using my 48" octa Fotodiox Ez-pro and instead use my 47" brolly.
Very best,
