Hi everyone Im selling my canon 1d mark ii on ebay and someone asked for the serial number. Why would someone ask for this what info can you get from it?

Heya,

Couple of reasons off the top of my head that are common...

1) To identify when it was likely produced so they can get the age on it.
2) Some cameras, based on release date, had different firmware or fixes performed compared to the initial release.
3) To identify if it is listed as a stolen item some where.

This applies to lenses too.

I'm surprised someone is that careful with a 1D2, it's a $200 camera these days, not sure what they're expecting to learn from the info, it's an old camera. Old but great.
