Hi all. Please help me out with this one, Just about to buy a Vintage lens as i've heard great things about them but i can't work out what mount it is.....
It is a Helios 44 f2 58mm Zebra pattern. Aparently it was previously used on a zenit camera.

Any ideas if it is M39 or M42?

It is impossible to tell what size the thread is by simply looking at a photograph. Do you possibly have a caliper handy? If not you can get them cheaply (if you buy plastic ones). I have one I bought from Sears, but you can find them at any hardware store I would think.

M39 would measure 1.535 (just over 1 1/2 inches) and the M42 would measure 1.653 (just over 1 5/8 inch)

To convert metric to inch take 39 divide by 25.4

Good luck!

As cheap as lens adapters are now I would get both adapters, there are M39 to M42 adapters available for just a few dollars in the U.S., can't imagine they would be that expensive in the rest of the world.

44 is the first and it is M39 if it was on the Zenit.
