... and a couple of my parachutes to justify the upgrade.

Just remember your parachute bag is packed with camera gear the next time you jump. ;-)a Or at least tell me where to collect the camera gear.

Why... you'd like to pick up a 2nd 1DX? ;)

I HAD BOUGHT SEVERAL USED !DS/!D then bought the 5D3 ...it's a great camera but felt like a toy using it...
that's why I bit the bullet & bought the 1Dx .....
the 5D3 only has a little 3700 clicks on it ...I'd loose my butt selling it but...
I'd probably just keep the 1Dx & keep a wide angle lens on it & a telephoto on the "II" or vise versa...
don't wanna loose my butt on selling two cameras...

stuff

Adorama only charges you $100 as a "Good Faith" amount. If you are seeing a $5,899 charge on your account, that means your camera is about to ship! Next step is to continually refresh the Details section of your order. Once it goes to either Invoiced or Shipped, then you'll know its definitely on its way. You can usually see this change in the Details section of your order about 2-6 hours before you'll receive the automated email that gives you your tracking number.

Cheers,
Bryan

Looks like Adorama charged me $10 as a good faith, the text from CC states $5,989... The status for the camera is: pending, the battery: back ordered. Does this mean the camera will ship?

Yes. I can confirm this, because I got mine, and I'm awaiting my battery. You will get your camera, and then the battery separately once they get them in stock.

You are correct! Got a tracking number few minutes ago, should have the camera on Friday :). Adorama rocks!!! They will get all my business from now on!

Yikes! That's quite the premium. You could probably fly to America, buy it, and fly back for less.

B&H did let down this time. Amazon would already have had one in my hands but in my state the Amazon penalty is 10% and that's another
battery and a real CFast card like the one the Aussies are getting in the Premium kit.
Regardless the 1DXii is less than 50 miles from me as I type.

On another note I've detected some vitriol toward the A7x series of cameras in this thread. You just have to accept that Sony bodies are the epitome of planned quick obsolescence and most fitting for a throw-away society. That said I think my A7Rii + 1DXii will make one happy couple, and like couples in a throw-away society divorce is just around the corner, e.g. when the A7Riii comes out :)

Whether you like Sony progress or not as Canon lovers we have to thank Sony for helping get the lead out of Canon's arse on the R&D front. If the A7x series didn't exist I doubt we'd be seeing the revolution in Canon sensors we are seeing today.

Less talk and more pics! I figured with all the 1dx owners that now have the mark ii, we would have more comparison shots of high iso and shadow pushing. Spring brings flowers and weddings, let's see 'em! I was so close to ordering this evening, but must resist....

I'd like a RAW file of a bird where I would have to crop about 50% if someone would be kind enough to post. Does not have to be in flight.

Somewhere in this range. I want to see how it crops with my workflow. Thanks in advance.

I am enjoying this thread vicariously. I'm sure I'm not as excited as those of you who have just received your ID X Mark ll's, but I love your enthusiasm... it's contagious.

So thanks for all your posts so far. I will have a lot of fun watching your first photos, first post processing efforts, etc.

You took the words right out of my mouth. Very exciting to see Canon take this leap ahead.
