Quick question for my fellow 1dx2 folks, hope you guys can give me some advice on.

For those who've kept up with this thread, remember back when I posted some architectural photos (of my friend's remodeled condo)? The designer of the project is asking to use some of my photos for his upcoming updated website to showcase his work. Any idea what the going rate might/would be for something like this?

I was thinking, of the ~50 processed photos that he can choose from, I'd charge him a flat fee for upto... 8 images. And any extra, it would be $$ more per. I just don't know what the going rate (if there is a going rate) would be on something like this as I don't shoot professionally.

Thanks!

J

This is really going to depend on the local market and the price point of the sale. Most of this work is done by specialists that do many houses a day and it is not a lot of money - ie $200 - and they are delivering all the standard shots that the agents want to fit into their system.

This is a volume business unless you can find that agent client who is into the high end almost architectural look - then you would be higher to potentially much higher.

Hockey and wedding photographer. Favourite camera / lens combos: a 1DX II with a Tamron 45 1.8 VC, an A7Rii with a Canon 24-70F2.8L II, and a 5DSR with a Tamron 85 1.8 VC. Every lens I own I strongly recommend [Canon (35Lii, 100L Macro, 24-70F2.8ii, 70-200F2.8ii, 100-400Lii), Tamron (45 1.8, 85 1.8), Sigma 24-105]. If there are better lenses out there let me know because I haven't found them.

Not a genre I know anything about but I know that are fantastic captures.

Thanks MedicineMan! To be honest it's not a genre I know a great deal about either!!

I have been using the 1DX Mk2 for about 6 weeks now. I previously used a 1D Mk4. I have to say that I am extremely impressed with the A/F capabilities of this camera. I have not had a great deal of success in the past using a 2X extender with certain lenses. However this body seems to cope exceptionally well with everything I have tried it with. The attached image was taken with my 500 f4 together with a 2X extender. The LMP3 cars would have been doing in excess of 100MPH in this shot but the A/F has worked well. Has anyone else seen similar improvements using the 2X extender for very fast moving subjects on the 1DX Mk2 ? This shot was 1/640th @ f9 ISO 500.

You have a little different situation that I do. But real estate photography is one of the things that I shoot. In my market I go out and shoot a typical 3 bedroom house for $140. I'd like to charge more but competition in this area is steep. Larger houses and drone services cost more.

I deliver the images the next day (however many I took) via link.

Our 1DX MK II has arrived and has been working out very well. I'm not a pro, but can tell this is a VERY nice camera. My wife & I are most interested in wildlife and sports photography (whales) and can't wait to try this out in Maui in Feb. I can tell already that birds in flight are very difficult to shoot.
On my first day out I went to a local park in Seattle that fronts Lake Union and the Seattle Skyline. I wanted to see how sharp the images were and if I could detect any issues with our new camera or lens (400mm DO MKII). So far I'm very pleased, no issues. The FPS are a so confidence-inspiring when it comes to action, and the images have been tack sharp from what I notice so far. Together with a RRS L bracket and DO lens foot it weighs in at 8Lbs 10oz. Not bad for at all. I have't tried my 1.4x TC yet but I"m looking forward to see what 540mm at f5.6 looks like :) I told my wife to practice holding a 10 lb dumbbell at the gym so shes been trained.
