No, that topic sparked pages and pages of discussions in the other "official idx II" thread. Canon turned all that off for the 1DX, you can use touch for focusing in live view and movie mode, I believe.

"Man only has 5 senses, and sometimes not even that, so if they define the world, the universe, the dimensions of existence, and spirituality with just these limited senses, their view of what-is and what-can-be is very myopic indeed and they are doomed, now and forever."

Yes that is what they are saying at FM.

Dang, I was #2 on the waiting list at the local camera supplier McBain, only to find out Canon has ordered them to supply CPS members first which has bumped me to "we should be getting some more in soon" status.

We need an "I Don't Like" button! -?

Thanks. Saves me switching it off myself! :-)

In the 40s here, sadly no bugs. So how about a lame bird shot? First shot from Lucille (my pet name for the 1DXii in honor of Negan's bat since
they probably weigh close to same :)

I can lay to rest any argument and confirm that touch is only enabled in live view for photos, but you can't trigger the shutter with it, and in video mode. Nothing else unless they ever decide to do a firmware update to it.

I will say I love the dancing red squares in AI-servo. With the 400DOii the whole rig is not that heavy feeling either.
Just like the pic above SOOC, no sharpening, no noise reduction-sold as is but this mockingbird portrait is a huge huge crop :)

Can I just take a moment to say how much I appreciate this group here? Because I really do. I posted over on a group on Facebook and I've been having to ask people to play nice and not insult others' professions/choice of use of the camera. It's just a camera people! A great one, but hey, nothing to fight over in any other way than good spirited fun, right? I think so, and I appreciate all of you because, to the best of my recollection, in this thread and the pre-release thread, no one ever got nasty. Sure, there were disagreements to be had, but everyone was civil and that is awesome. So again, thanks everyone for being level headed and pretty darn wonderful all around. :-)

My camera's been sitting here since 10:30am (4 hours ago). Haven't had any time to open the box yet, and won't get to until 2 more hours from now. But I figured I'll take a few pre-unboxing photos.

Day job comes first. :D
