Did anyone else find Canon USA's packaging to be interesting? I sure did. It is a clever design!

Been following this thread since the begining.. not because i'm buying .. its a little too much camera for me.. just because it seems like such an awesome camera .. and that box

hoping some of the high iso capabilities trickle down to the 5d4.. thats will probably be my next FF camera ,, and it'll probably more realistic for me financially

anyway keep those pics coming people!!

Anyone have any insight to the GPS battery drain? Hopefully it isn't as obnoxious as the battery drain on the 7d2.

I suspect it's similar drain, but the battery is higher capacity so it should take longer to get to empty. :)

I view this thread much like a car enthusiast reads about Formula 1 technology. Maybe some of the cool tech in this camera will trickle down to a camera I will buy in a year or two! :)

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

Showed my wife this one. She loved it and then asked what ISO 16000 was. That didn't help my cause :-)

This is my first 1D series body & I must say, it is a beast.

I have not had much time with it yet, but here's a low light - high ISO shot that certainly would not have been possible with my 7DII. It's in the back yard well after dark with only the porch light one, about 25~30' away. You can see how dark it was out, through the gap between the fence & gate. Nothing to really look at, but @ ISO 25600 it's good to me.

This a jpg SooC. All I did was size it down to fit forum rules.

Other initial observations...

It IS FAST! Both focus & shutter.
The red focus dots in the VF are great.
It is certainly louder than I'm used to with my 7D2 & even 5D3, but not obnoxiously loud. The sound is different - thud-like..??.. Silent shutter isn't too bad at all.
Low light shooting ability is incredible!
Customization options are quite similar to 7D2 (superior to 5D3) which is nice because I am accustomed to it.
Built like a tank, but that's not news to anyone that's owned or used a 1Dx.

Ran out during lunch today to see if I could see any birds at the park, but mid-day is not the best time.

These were RAW, cropped 50% & tweaked a little in LR.

Well, someone had to do it. And I happen to be nerd enough to try it, comparing the 1DX2 to the 1DX. So here it is:

Thanks for that, I may have to look into some of the 0% finance options here in the UK...
