Someone was asking about battery life earlier.

So here's a real world example.

It's 2am and I just got back from two consecutive jobs with the camera. I was out and shooting consistently from 5:30pm to 1:30am, about 7 hours of heavy use with an hour in between where the camera was off on the way to the second gig. Ended up with roughly 1600 images, I was making some motor driven segments for a video alongside taking photos, and threw in a few slow motion shots for good measure.

Started the journey at 100% battery and came back at around 9%.

I am seriously impressed.

(EDIT: I forgot to mention that I also had GPS Mode 2 running the whole time at 15 second intervals. That's the one where the GPS shuts off when the camera is off.)

Did you take an extra battery? of course you did but I have to ask.
So far I've not darkened the door on the battery that came with the 1DXii, I used
one I plucked from the 1Div....I'd already reduced the fps to 10 and same with the CFast card, it's
still in the wrapper as well.

Aehric, dumb question....when you shoot slo-mo do you see slo-mo on the LCD in playback or is that something you do in post? We've had A7s/GH4/FZ1000/etc. but never really done much at all with video.

I actually don't have an extra battery yet for the 1DXII. I've got one coming to me from Adorama once they are in stock. Regularly I would never leave the house with less than at least a spare, if not two. Just wise to of course. But for now I'm waiting on that and just going along with one.

It's okay though since I had my 5D3 with me and I had 7 batteries for it. I wasn't going to miss anything. Just wanted to see how long the 1DXII battery lasted in the sort of real world situation I find myself in regularly in my line of work.

About the slow mo playback, not a dumb question at all! And I am happy to say that yes, when you play it back in camera it plays in slow motion. And it is quite beautiful. I shot a fire breather tonight with it and showed him, and a few others, the slowed down playback on the back screen. They went nuts over it. :-)

well I couldn't help myself...I "re-ordered" one...
got the premium pkg "card/card reader" & they threw in an extra battery...
had a couple of "promo codes" they'd sent to me & I got to use both of them ...so purty good deal...lol

Who did you "re"-order from? Adorama told me that the free battery was a choice for the customer, not in addition to the premium kit.

Now if you don't mind a step-by-step menu item to obtain slow mo. I think I read it's 1080p only.
Something I've also never tried on my A7Rii, don't even know if it is possible.

No problem. And yeah, it's 1080P only. Tech isn't there in this class of camera yet really to deliver reliable 4K 120fps at an acceptable quality. That's a ways off.

To turn it on you simply go to these screens shown below when in video mode on the back switch.

The camera will stay in this mode until you tell it otherwise in these menus. Once in 120fps mode you can't change the mode from the Q button on the back. Only in the menus.

Well, the Kirk right angle bracket for the 1dx seems to fit the 1dx m2 just fine. No problem with battery access.
