Why not at least load DPP and use it? It is quite good, free and fully supports the 1DX2. At least until you get Aperture updates... Actually it isn't free, you paid a tiny bit for it with your purchase of the 1DX2, but how much nobody really knows.

In OS X, raw support is provided by the operating system so it will come. The last Raw Compatibility Update from Apple included support for the Nikon D5 and D500 so the 1D X II shouldn't be far behind.

The catch for me is that I stuck with Yosemite as the last version of OS X to support Aperture officially but the Raw Compatibility updates are only issued for the latest version of the OS so I will need to update to El Capitan. It appears that the only thing that doesn't work in Aperture is on-screen proofing (and I never used that anyway) so it's not that bad.

I believe Photos in OS X will open an Aperture library and render adjustments so that's my fallback.

I took Oscar out into the field, Oscar is a plastic GHO we glued feathers on. It gets the hawks riled up and flying. I didn't use a blind so the hawk didn't attack but it did give me opportunity to grab about 300 shots that all look very closse to this one as he'd fly over to check on the GHO. Crap sky with just a patch of blue. The AF system (I never had 1DX) is most amazing, far beyond the 7Dii and the 1Div. I love the ring of fire on the 1Div (thanks again Jake) but on the 1DXii I now have the dancing squares of 61. You simply cannot miss. I programmed AF-ON for 9 point expansion and * for 61 point. Both Case 1 for now.
I also tried the c1.4TCiii with the 100-400ii ~it will be the Mongolian eagle lens kit if we make it there next year~ and the combo does just fine. Anyway this was last chance to play with the Xii, flying out Monday with the Sony and the Xii gets to rest after it's workout this afternoon. This is approx 70% crop-

also shot a quick bird...super heavy crop..almost 3:1 at 6400 ISO got it to 1/8000

Just got the call. Mine has finally made it to the store up here. Will ship out Monday. Can't wait.

Well I may be getting mine much sooner followed by a 400 DO II and 600L F4. Fires are burning around my cottage and they have started to evacuate. We are not there but if it goes we aren't rebuilding. Wish me luck as I would prefer to have it standing.

Digital, Godspeed on the fires. We too have a cabin in the woods and every couple of years have to hold our breath as fires get close. Nerve wracking to say least...like you I'm partial to the place so I hope your's is spared. Just bad news for those kind Canadians and the evacuees.
