Well I may be getting mine much sooner followed by a 400 DO II and 600L F4. Fires are burning around my cottage and they have started to evacuate. We are not there but if it goes we aren't rebuilding. Wish me luck as I would prefer to have it standing.

Nod nod wink wink, say no more :-)

Just...wow. As I am going through shots from last night I can't help but note that ISO 25,600 on the 1DXII is astounding. Simply astounding!

The detail retention alone is worth the price of admission. The grain is there, naturally, but it feels like film grain. Very natural, organic even. Zero color noise and the blacks retain their details. There is no banding. At all. This is not the same noise characteristic you see on other Canon models. It's something wholly new. And it is down right amazing.

Canon is back in the game folks.

I like the fact that the purple cast on deep shadows at high ISOs are gone. No more fiddling in Lightroom to get rid of that

I know where you are coming from but to me Canon has always been the game.
When I came back to photography I knew I wanted more than 1:1 macro. Canon had the MP-65.
I knew I wanted to dabble in astro-all the software ~PHD Guiding/Backyard EOS~ were Canon centered.
When I wanted high ISO FF the 6D was there. When I wanted the jack-of-all they gave me the 70D.
I could go on :) Just another Canon fanboy touting their wares.
Somehow they knew that my world is dark grey and gloomy and they cooked up the Xii. Thoughtfull
aren't they ;)

Hah. Totally. Don't hear me wrong. :-) I've always used Canon as well. Started on a 40D, went to a T3i because I needed video for work, then the 6D, then 5D3, now the Xii. I love me some Canon. I was referring to Canon being back in the game in the sense that maybe Nikon and Sony fanboys will have one less thing to gloat about. I'm also really happy that Canon has been so intent on, at their own pace of course, innovating and refining their tools. Only good things come of that.

I'm good ;)
We should discuss it a Zambra's downtown someday over a tapa spread.

anyone use the Lexar cfast 2.0 card?
it has faster read/write speeds than the Sandisk...
I've always used Sandisk cards till I bought my 1Dx from Adorama.
My bundle came with 2 batteries & a Lexar 128 Cf card.
I've never had any problems with it...

Sending good vibes your way Digital! I've been through what you're experiencing right now and I know first-hand how hard it can be. Hang in there!

Every couple of months...usually to eat. The she-boss is from Waynesville and works out of Weaverville.
Dzaneh where are you? Might have to have a mini-POTN get-together in Asheville sometime. I abs. love
western NC and would cross the line but the state income tax........
