I just can't see Sony's FE100-400mm besting the EOS 100-400ii, that would be a shocker---the Canon is just so damned good!
I won't complain if it is though
No arguments on the long lens selection from Sony in e-mount but I have a prediction-Sony will bring out long glass and it will
be priced lower than Canon....whether the ultimate IQ will be there will be an endless debate on the forums.
Not only shooting Canon and Sony Poof and I shoot mFT with his-n-hers M1 Mk ii's and her 300/4 just stuns me. Why mention this?
Well only because we hop between those three worlds and we don't care about the name on the metal but the final result.
You know when I climbed Vroman's Nose last month I'd rather have carried the Olympus But that too is an age thing!

Oh well today was my first day with issues with this body, I was shooting in video mode and switched to camera mode and nothing would happen, pressing buttons, nothing, the only screen that was on was the lower one showing your memory card (if you have it set like that) pulled the battery, worked fine.....until it went into sleep mode after 1 minute. Pressed the shutter button and same again, only the small screen was showing and none of the buttons would do anything, pulled the battery and it was fine. Sleep mode again camera would not operate. Same issue all the time, turning the camera off will turn it off but once you turn it on again nothing works.

Im gonna be contacting Canon in the morning and taking it from there, got a wedding in 8 weeks so I should be ok by then.

Hm... that's not good. Sounds as if the PCB board might be failing. I had similar symptoms on my 1dx1. But it took almost a year before it finally died. I had sent it to Canon 2 times while it was failing intermittently and they couldn't find anything wrong until it finally died, then they replaced the PCB board.

There were some cameras affected by that, primarily early production runs I think as I can't recall seeing any recent complaints. My camera was purchased new in January and has no issues. Not sure if it was a problem with the cameras or just too much lubrication being applied at the factory.

When I used the 1DX, I normally had the GP-E1 GPS unit attached to the system expansion port. When the camera went into sleep state, the GPS stopped. Thus it took a while to regain position lock when touching the trigger button to wake the camera up. Typically, the first few images had no position tag.
With the 1DX Mark II, there is no equivalent to this mode. Even if you use the GPS in Method 2, it will consume power during sleep state (but not when the camera is turned off). So what do you do now? Do you turn the camera off more frequently than before? Or replace batteries more often? Or don't use the GPS whatsoever?

I got mine last August and shortly thereafter took 3000 shots at an airshow. It was my first real outing with the camera. After that, there was a lot of oil splatter on the sensor. I cleaned it, and did another airshow about a month later. There was some oil splatter, but not as much as the first time. I sent it to Canon for cleaning (I didn't like doing it myself). I've done 2 airshows this year, and the oil splatter is now minimal. Mostly tiny spots that aren't visible except at high f/stops. I don't know if I would have had the problem if it hadn't been for a great deal of burst mode shooting.

Brilliant composition and fantastic colors.

I had some oil but not a big deal.
On a hike my A7Rii kissed the top LCD of the 1DXii--me carrying both on some crap terrain.
Result was a hairline crack in the top LCD, not big deal either, camera continued on; but did
send to Canon for repair ($230) and they cleaned while there.
Haven't noticed any oil since but I'm also shooting a few other bodies just as much if not more.
