Anyone set the red focus squares to the bright setting?
The active points are brighter.
I tried this but could see all non selected/not used points dimly lit as well.

Do I have a lemon? (that's a metaphor)

I tried the bright setting and found it works better. At least in daylight. If indoors in dim light, maybe not. But I have a pre-programmed mode set to be useful for flash, and inside that custom mode I have the AF point brightness lower. If it's dark then flash is more probable, of course. And otherwise I have to change the setting manually.

I wrote software for 35 years. Tradeoffs were made pretty much every day. I have no complaints with the forum software; I'm just trying to figure out why some folks say that their Flickr images look different than the forum image. Today's test is just one clue...

Tried something new while i was on vacation in Mammoth. I had a blast doing this and want to continue playing around here in Washington. Really shows the power of the new sensor. LOVE this 1Dx2

Jim,

I loved the series... and I have a question: Did you own the 1D X before you got the Mark ll? And if so.... was the upgrade worth it to you. The reason I ask is.... I'm saving up for a Mark ll.... It's going to take me a while. The rumors of the Mark lll will be out before I get there (Spring of 2019) ;)

I think I'll forego the 5D IV because I really need the speed for wildlife, or at least, I've convinced myself I do.

Thank you for the kind words. I did not have the 1D X. I went to the 1DX2 from a 7D2. Definitely an awesome jump! I also have a 5D4. Whenever I do wildlife (even if it's chainsaw woodcarvers), the 1DX2 is my tool of choice. The 5D4 would do a fine job, but the 1DX2 is just so sweet... :-)

FYI - I'm really impressed with the work of Tin Man Lee. He posted a review in the "Camera Reviews" section where he feels the 1DX2 is a very worthy upgrade to the 1DX. That review is here:

And they have no protective clothing. Stupid idiots. But good pictures.
