LJ3Jim Goldmember More info | Aug 23, 2017 13:52 | #4022 I had a lot of fun photographing the total solar eclipse of August 21, 2017. I'd never been to a total eclipse before, and I never tried to photograph one. I wanted to get this one! I did a lot of research, came up with my plan, and practiced it frequently. For me, it paid off. Here are my results. 50% partial eclipse: The last crescent I took before the Diamond Ring: The Diamond Ring (about 30 seconds after the previous shot): Baily's Beads (8 seconds after the diamond ring). The sun is shining through the valleys between mountains. Start of totality (just 3 seconds after Baily's Beads): Image editing ok; C&C always welcome.

Note the little white dot near the lower left corner of the image. It's the star Regulus (thanks to Mark Urwiller for the correction). Image editing ok; C&C always welcome.
