After much hesitation, actually could have been outright fear of what my partner would do, I purchased a 1DX mark 2 from my local camera store here in Townsville Australia.
As a sports shooter some 90% of the time the camera has exceeded all my expectations.
I have until now been using 1DX bodies as my camera of choice and whilst I have enjoyed many years of faithful operation (wish I could say that about the misses!) the mark 2 really is a step up in all aspects.
Focus particularly during indoor sporting events is superb, now I have 99.9% keepers rather than 90%, outdoor sport performance is even better if that is possible.
I recently had occasion to shoot an end of year event, and in low light, the ability to focus and the much improved flash programming made it a breeze.
Prior to the event I did some research on the ITR face recognition program options, and I can say from my experience on the night, in low light turn it off!
It delayed shots significantly. After I changed it to straight ITR with no facial preferencing, not completely off, it worked a dream.
I am now laying the foundations, in other words sucking extremely hard, so that my darling wife can see her way to allowing me to get a second body.

If in doubt about changing from a straight 1Dx to the mark 2, I can assure you as others have done, you won't be disappointed.

When I was processing my airshow photos, I noticed that the 1DX2's sensor was pretty dirty (story continues below):

I decided to send the body to Canon for cleaning, and I asked them to check for any possible oil leaks. I got the camera back today, and CPS said that the spots were dust, not oil. I think that's possible. I do attach/detach the 1.4x III fairly frequently. Also, the 100-400 II does pump air through the body, and it was dusty at the airshow. In any case, the sensor is much cleaner now.

You only live once. Do it! (As long as you don't plan on changing cameras every 2-3 years, then the investment stretches out.)

It is the camera I grab for my shenanigans 95% of the time, despite its size and weight.
