Little help needed please guys, went out this morning (first time since before Christmas with lockdown etc) local nature reserve - had the 200-400 attached - BBF locking on to all the small birds in the tree's / bushes etc. no problem at all - then I saw a bird in flight out of the corner of my eye, spun round and pressed the focus button. . . . . little bit of focus movement then nothing, wouldn't lock, tried a few times with same thing, all the closer objects press / bang - in focus press the button whilst aiming at a bird in the sky (nothing else in frame just blue sky and a bird) would't lock IF I kept my thumb on the BBF button and moved down to the trees etc. the focus motor would do nothing, no tracking / re focusing if I then tapped the button it would jump to the trees as normal.

Does that make sense?

I have gone through all the settings and for the life of me can't see what I have changed, on af servo, lens is on full distance, doing my head in now - any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

.DAVID.

What's your setting for Lens drive when AF is impossible in the AF4 menu page?
If it's OFF, then try ON.

No-one?

Well, just in case anyone else has the same issue - I reset the body to factory settings, downloaded and re-flashed the lens firmware, cleaned the contacts with a tiny bit of WD40 on a lint free cloth and touch wood - everything seems to be as it should.

Thank you, tried that and no difference, think I have sorted it now (replied with my original post)
