...people are giving these 1Dx2's away...

Here in Sweden, the 1DX Mark II is on sale at some places for a cost less than half of a 1DX Mark III. New, that is, not used.

Wow, that sounds like a good deal. I paid $3590 USD, but used.

Don't you just hate it when you set your self up for some slow panning shots then out the corner of your eye you see this and have no time to think let alone change the shutter speed

great shots. What you just posted is a perfect example of why I feel the 1D cameras are still superior to the mirrorless bodies. You see this out of the corner of your eye and just point and start to shoot.....the 1D system got the shots.....Mirrorless cant get these...also hearing this complaint from wildlife photographers who startle wildlife...1D camera might get the shots...Mirrorless cannot pu something this quickly....

people dont think about this

My 1dx2 is still the best camera I own

Agree whole heartedly - and at 1/60 still get something usable - didn't even have time to zoom in it happened that quickly.

1DX Mark II Owners - I need some advice. I mostly shoot my kids sports, High School soccer, lacrosse , basketball and Roller Hockey. The only indoor sports I shoot are basketball and indoor hockey. Soccer and lacrosse are during day but at times they go well into dusk.

I'm currently using my 1dx MKII and my older 1d MKIII with a 70-200 version 1.

I have gotten some great pictures but would like to have more reach. I have a budget of about $850 to spend.

Do I invest in a used 100-400mm Lens or do invest in a used 7D MKii and 1.4 extender?

Here's my thought process:

with the 100-400mm on the 1DX MKII I have max zoom 400mm and a max zoom of 520mm on the 1d MKII - but at F5.6

with the 7d MKII and my 70-200mm I would get a max zoom of 320mm at F2.8

with the 7d MKII and a 1.4 extender on my 70-200mm I would get a max zoom of 448mm( my math might be off) at F4.0

Can anyone give me any real world experience and advice which would be the best option? Thank you all in advance!

Hey,
All I can offer you is the set up I use 99% of the time for motor racing - 70-200 2.8 mkII with the Canon 1.4 mkIII extender and hand on heart - I cannot fault it, any missed shots are down to me!
As for low light, take a look at the last few pages of the gallery below - almost dark, all handheld with no added lighting (other than the headlights)

Seriously? It’s a CAR... My 7D would have easily gotten that, let alone my r6. I’ll give you that the R or RP might have struggled with it, but the R5/R6 wouldn’t. Nothing against the 1Ds. I used to own them and loved them, but you’re shortchanging the AF of the R5/6.

The weather finally cooperated on my third trip to the Hurricane Ridge Visitor's Center. I had 20 minutes of clearing weather before the rain and fog rolled back in again
