Thanks! With the sun going in and out of clouds all day though I admit I was feeling a little envious of those using mirrorless cameras

Quick question regarding the 1dx ii record to card options. Is it possible to record large jpg to the CFAST card and small jpg to the CF card? For the life of me, I can't seem to get that option to work. I don't need to shoot raw, I just want a smaller size jpg available for transferring to my tablet while traveling

No I do not think there is, as far as I can tell you can only shoot to both cards with the following options :-

Same style of RAW to both cards,
Same style of JPEG to both cards,
One style of RAW and one style of JPEG to both cards.

There does not appear to be any capability to shoot different styles of RAW or different styles of JPEG to both cards.

A coupla bodies and a few lenses

You can select seven different file types, four jpeg and three RAW, for each card as you like. You can make any combination of different jpegs or different RAW or a mix of them. I frequently shoot large jpegs to one card and small to the other, if I want documentation with high resolution and at the same time e-mail some of the images. Then I have one of each size immediately ready in the camera.

My issue is I can not simply save only jpegs of different sizes to each card ( large jpg on one card and small or medium on the other card). Can you explain how you are doing this?

On my 1DX or 1DX Mark II or R3 or 7D (they all work the same, but the menu pages are different for the latter two), I set card handling (first yellow menu) to Save separately. The I go to the image quality setting (second red menu) and there I can set the image quality per card. But you have to select Save separately first, or this option isn't shown.
Once you have selected Save separately, you can also use the image quality button at the rear bottom (1DX or 1DX Mark II only) and set the different selections for the two cards using the small rear lower LCD (provided that button isn't programmed to something else than default).

Note: I use my cameras set to Swedish. Maybe some menu option has a slightly different name in English.

Of course, I forgot about that setting; I have mine set to Auto Switch most of the time, handy for high volume shooting at air shows etc.

Many thanks.

I see. Well, yes, if you don't tell it to use both cards, then you can't save to both cards either.

Thanks. I got it figured out. There was a menu my eyes were skipping over.
