I tried, but didn't quite work. I stopped trying quickly because I wasn't sure how long the hummingbird would stay perched. I'll have to take some time to see if LV will focus beyond f/8 some other time.

How does Capture One compare to the Nik Collection?

No clue, didn't even know that Nik did RAW conversion.

Do be aware that Capture one has been doing RAW conversion since before Adobe ever put RAW into PS, let alone came out with LR.
That makes Nik a johnny come lately.

I have always liked the results from Capture One free trials. Price tag was too much for an PS owner. This was before CC came out.

Has anyone seen or heard any rumors of a firmware update?

I absolutely love this beast of a camera. The only thing I'm not enjoying is that my LCD screen on the back is quite yellow. Wish I could calibrate that.

First Flower in Capture 1
- watched a few videos to get the gist of it
- for those that do video work and are use to colour dials it will be more familiar
- there is a tool in LR, the Radial Filter tool, that I use a lot to make a certain area pop or fade, that I wish Capture One had (does it?)
- Capture 1 does not have Tamron Lens profiles which I find interesting

The Tamron 45 makes for a good semi macro lens

The one thing I will say about the 1Dx_II that I never did with any other Canon camera is shooting handheld in live view - if you have an IS lens, and you aren't tracking anything, the weight / mass of the camera - and the zero shutter effect shooting in live view, never mind the ridiculous burst speed, actually makes it very useful - this is how I did my macro shots today - it is like releasing a silent assassin mini sniper rifle - it was windy out so I had to shoot at higher shutter speeds

Hockey and wedding photographer. Favourite camera / lens combos: a 1DX II with a Tamron 45 1.8 VC, an A7Rii with a Canon 24-70F2.8L II, and a 5DSR with a Tamron 85 1.8 VC. Every lens I own I strongly recommend [Canon (35Lii, 100L Macro, 24-70F2.8ii, 70-200F2.8ii, 100-400Lii), Tamron (45 1.8, 85 1.8), Sigma 24-105]. If there are better lenses out there let me know because I haven't found them.

Nik works within both PS and Lightroom.... I was trying to figure out the overall look of the two. I've seen some great stuff from Capture One. I've had great results with Nik, probably because it's so easy to learn.

Continuing the studies of Bluebird (which brutally ran off the Treeswallows :(
Yes, typical of my area, blessed with a perfect crap grey sky.
No C/C, I know I've a long way to go with the Bluebirds-
