I used to shoot with a 7D but recently upgraded to a 1Ds Mark III and holy smokes a lot of camera. I got a great deal on it and couldn't pass it up.

I shoot a lot of sports, but recently have started taking more portrait type shots. I've always shot with AI Servo and BBF on my 7D. I've read all over the net about how to set up my custom functions on the 1Ds but I think I may have messed something up. I'm not sure what I need to set it up on for this camera.

From the manual. Select either option 2 or 3, depending whether or not you want AE-Lock.

Thanks, for some reason in the past when I press the AF-ON I would hear the focus but now I do not. Even when I press the shutter button it doesn't auto focus.

If you have C.Fn IV-1 set to option 2 or 3, the AF-On button should initiate focusing and metering and the shutter button should only initiate metering.

Mark,

I feel like I bit off way too much camera. But I really want to learn to use it as I read online and the actual manual and learn things I don't understand in the manual. I do have C.Fn IV-1 set to option 2. But, on my 7D, I would always hear the focus when I would push the BBF. I don't and when I look through the view finder it doesn't focus either. Part of me thinks maybe I should set everything back to default and start over.

I have always enjoyed shooting sports, especially football. Now that both my boys are moving onto other things, I'm finding myself trying to find things to shoot...so now it's people. Not so much fun:oops: Especially when people ask me to take pics of them. That stresses me out. This photography thing as always been a hobby.
