Have a Canon Digital Rebel (300D) that I'm trying to access to change owner's name in the EXIF data. None of my more recent Canon software seems to recognize this camera when connected to my computer. Have tried both EOS Utilities and the Camera Settings apps with no success.

Has anybody saved their old Canon Digital Solutions Disk that was originally used with the Digital Rebel (300D)? I'm thinking that the original software disk might be required to access the Camera Settings for this specific camera. If you don't want to part with the actual disk I'd gladly pay a reasonable price for a copy and shipping.

Contact by PM.

Thanks in advance for rooting around in your collection of old software CDs... :p

Thank you, Pekka! I'm sure some members here might have imagined that POTN might begin winding down. But that doesn't make the news any less disappointing. So generous of you to allow us to go along for the ride. As a result you gave us a way to help each other become better photographers. But there's still so much more to learn.

I think you can still download from Canon.

I'll check out that link. I was all thru their site and downloaded and installed several different bits of software and upgrades but may have overlooked it.

Thanks for doing the legwork for me. ;-)a

Edit: Well under the available software downloads there was only stuff like DPP, Zoombrowser and Picture Style Editor upgrades for Win7 x64, which is what I'm using. Under utilities there is nothing listed. Which makes me wonder if what I'm really up against is trying to find 64 bit software for this "antique" camera.

So now, even if I do find a 300D Digital Solutions Disk I wonder if it will even upload into Win7. I didn't think to try connecting the camera to an old WinXP machine that I still have laying around. Maybe that should be the next thing I try.

If you set the OS type to XP you'll see the utilities software. It should install just fine on windows7. You might have to run it by setting the "run as" flag to XP before running though but usually the old 32 bit stuff runs fine.

I think the particular software I need is the Canon Camera Window Utility. On the Canon site it looked like it might have been included with the Zoombrowser download. But in the file description it states that Canon Camera Window is no longer included with the Zoombrowser software download and that it must be downloaded from the software CD/rom that was originally bundled with that specific camera. You even need the camera serial number to complete the download.

So it appears that I'm still looking for a copy of the original Digital Solutions Disk for a digital Rebel/300D.

Like gjl711 stated, just change the operating system to XP.
The EOS Utility 2.7.3 shows up as a download for the Rebel/330D

Thanks for the suggestion. EOS Utility 2.7.3 seemingly installed fine in Win7 without even using compatibility mode. But still can't access settings for the Rebel/300D. More info at the link below so I don't clutter up the Classified threads too much...
