Great blue herons are common as dirt around here, but when they fly by less than 15 yards away i just have to grab a shot or two...

Those GBH look so majestic. Great job. By the way, When people say: "Oh! You must take good pictures with that camera", well it does not work for me since I have the same lens and I certainly don't get the same results... practice, practice, practice!

Donald thanks, Donald! you're right... practice is the key! good tools make it easier, but you still have to master the techniques, and that's just practice and more practice! ardeekay Cream of the Crop More info | Apr 30, 2016 04:40 | #6 Great shooting, Rocky. That close in flight is harder than further away, especially w/a bird that large. Unique wing positions in these. They are typically quite tame in Texas -some you can almost hand-feed. Rog
