I purchased my 5DIII and Pro-100 printer from Adorama on the last day of the promotion for the $350 rebate. Once it arrived, I carefully followed all their instructions and filled in all the paperwork and cut out the whole barcode on the printer and sent it all in (I even did the pre-submission stuff online).
Just the other day I checked the status on the promotions web site and it said that my information was received but had "program violation" under the current status. I can't imagine why it would attempt to deny my rebate. So of course I called and waited and waited...and waited, eventually hanging up and opting for an e-mail instead. And while I haven't heard back yet, I'm curious to hear from anyone here if they've encountered a similar issue and if so, were you able to get it resolved? Thanks for any help or advice anyone can offer.

Did you not need to send in the barcode for the 5D3 as well? That's the only potential problem that I can see. I've done a few rebates, and while the process has been slow, it has always worked.

I would have thought so, but nowhere did it ask for it. The big question is that if I do need to send it can I still do it? Or do I have to start the whole process again?

I'd try to get a response from Canon. They have the UPC for the printer, so you can't really start over again from scratch unless you get that barcode back.

But, the issue could be non-related to UPCs.

From what I understand, the folks at Adorama are fabulous with customer service. Perhaps you could contact them to see if they've had anyone else with a rebate wind up in the same position? They may not know what the actual issue was, but they might be able to confirm whether or not this is an isolated event.

I can see why this would be frustrating for you. I'd be incredibly unhappy.

I've never had a rebate problem. I usually wind up sending in so much that I just use a larger padded envelope due to paperclips and whatnot. I also make sure I have copies of EVERYTHING I sent in. I;ve done three rebates now and have yet to have an issue.

Dd you by chance pre-submit the claim?

Yes, I did the pre-submission stuff online.

That is interesting because when you pre-submit they already have your name and address and they only need the actual receipt and UPC.

I'd try their number again that they list on the rebate website. I called them like 4 times in january for a purchase during the Christmas rebate period and had no problem getting through within 5 minutes at any point.

I'm hoping it is just a clerical error or something as I'd really be steamed about losing out on $350.

Okay, so I just got an e-mail back from Canon (less than 24 hrs after my initial e-mail, gold star for them!!) and it turns out I did need to send in the camera UPC as well as the printer. I thought I needed to, but their directions didn't state that explicitly, so I didn't. The person responding simply asked that I send in the UPC for the camera and they will process the claim from there.

I did the same thing first time around, you need the bar code from the camera body also. I have
never had a problem talking to a rebate rep. (866-668-9861). If I recall the rep will tell what you
need to do get his name and when you send the data mark it with attention (his name). What I do
now is include all bar codes printer, camera and paper and never a problem. I know what I speak
of waiting for my eighth rebate card works like a charm. Again just follow all instructions on their
claim checklist.

Funny thing is that this isn't the first rebate I've done with them. I did one last year for my 6D and Pro-10 bundle (love that printer BTW!) and had no hiccups with that one.
I have to admit that calling/e-mailing a huge company like Canon I didn't have the best of expectations of getting this resolved in a timely manner, or at all. Getting it taken care of in less than 24 hours is awesome! Good to know that good customer service still exists :)

I made the SAME mistake *LOL* Below is some of the email exchanges:

Hello,

If you did not submit the camera UPC, you will receive a letter informing you that we need that additional information. You are then able to mail the UPC.

Thank you. Can I mail it in advance? I know it was not sent.

Hello,

Mailing it in advance may cause some confusion since the rebate has not been processed yet.

I know it did NOT ask for the Camera UPC.. It does make sense to send it but really why not ASK for the camera UPC too?

It specifically says to include the upc codes from all products. Look at the rebate under step 2.
