I can't find individual channel noise sliders in Noiseware, or either version of DPP. I've been using LR for years, and am reasonably sure it isn't available there, either.

Unfortunately, I am of little use with LR. I take out noise on a color channel basis, and am unsure how that works in LR.

I only use DPP to create the JPG, while working on some of the sliders (NR, contrast, etc). The real meat of NR is done via Photoshop filters, color channels and Noiseware.

Since the 7D2 does a much better job of capturing details, and ISO performance is better than previous crops, the steps are quite simple.

= Work on the color channels individually, then one run on the RGB channel at the end
= On the red channel, use Noise->Despeckle, then add contrast that is lost by using USM of 14/10/0
= On the green channel, sharpen via USM enough to pull details up, then Noiseware with a very conservative NR settings
= On the blue channel, use Noise->Median with value of 1, then Smart Sharpen with nominal values to pull up details
= On the RGB channel, sharpen first using USM, then use Noiseware to do final Chroma and Lum. noise reductions, it shouldn't take too much.

(in a later post) I take out noise on a color channel basis, and am unsure how that works in LR.

Can you elaborate about WHERE (what software) you are using the above steps?

I did in the reply above yours, and added Photoshop CS5 in the original post. However the following replies also call that out.

Good write up, I have been playing with my 7D mk II since I got it and havent had the chance to really put it though its paces just yet. After messing with noise reduction, 6400 is really clean and it retains a lot of detail, 12800 is very usable as long as the image is sharp. The only thing I need to mess with getting the out of focus points to be better since noise is rather noticeable, though it could just be me being more anal about it than I should be.
