Hi there. When i edit a raw photo>ACR>Ps>Save as jpeg .... when i view the picture on windows using the viewer in full screen the colors desaturate a bit. Not good if your sending friends, family, clients etc, who by a good chance will view full screen and most likely use Windows.

Am i missing something? Is this an isolated issue on my end? -?

Thanks.

(Apologies if not exactly in the correct section)

Hello, Windows Photo Viewer doesn't work too well if you save your calibrated profile as ICC version 4. If you save the ICC profile as version 2, then it probably would look pretty similar to what you saw on your PS screen.

Also make sure you are saving as sRGB, NOT AdobeRGB or any other colourspace. The windows photo viewer is not colour managed, so it won't account for any other colourspace. It sounds to me from your description as if you are using AdobeRGB.

Since Windows 7, the default photo viewer from Microsoft has color profile support. It is color managed.

If you don't tag an image with an embedded color profile, the default sRGB IEC 61966-2.1 profile is used by Windows Photo Viewer.

Thanks. Yeah meant to add, yeah making sure im saving as Srgb not Adobe.

Not sure what you mean by 'tag' Cuongduong. .. Do you mean changing this ...

IMAGE: http://i64.tinypic.com/2db5mvp.jpg
... to Srgb 2.1 not ''Working RGB 2.1'' ? ....Or am i way off the mark here? :-D

This color space does not compute with me at all lol

Im using a Sony 4 flatscreen too btw .. not a dedicated monitor per say. Does this stir in more confusion no doubt? -?

You're using a 4k flatscreen Sony TV as your monitor? It doesn't look like you have calibrated your screen.

Tagging is when you assign a color profile with the image when you export it to JPG.

Not 4k, but yes its a flat screen. Sony KDL 705 42'' (one of the lowest input lag/monitor'ish tvs out there i believe. One of the reasons i got it. Helped with gaming) But thats moot here.

Correct mate, i havent calibrated my screen properly no.

To go back a little - When i save as jpeg i did notice a ICC:Adobe RGB box ticked ... I should uncheck( Or 'untag' it as it were?) this and save yes?

Sorry if this is like baby steps here lol ..this whole color space thing blows my mind. Add the fact and ive had some ale over the weekend/tonight hasntpled'nt helpted :-P

But like everything else i suppose - with a bit of input il get it eventually ...... right? -?
Thanks :-)

Oh yeah, that's a good TV for gaming.

Instead of using File -> Save As. You can try the Export function.

Set your export preference first.

File -> Export -> Export Preferences
On the dropdown, select JPG. Then specify the quality that you want. I normally do 80 to 85 if I'm exporting for print. Lower if I want to use for blog. On the bottom, there should be a checkbox that says Convert to sRGB

After that, just go to File -> Export.
You can also try the File -> Export -> Save for Web (Legacy)
