got this little beauty at the park this afternoon, had to do some research to find out it's apparently a warbling vireo... had never seen one before today! elusive little thing, flitted around the branches like a bushtit or a butter-butt, hard to get in the open... but patience is rewarded! ;)

Congrats Rocky and nice job.

Bob, warblers are difficult most of the time to photograph. And ID.

But to be clear, this is not a warbler but a warbling vireo. As an aside, the mnemonic phrase for remembering its song is, "If I see you, I will seize you, and I'll squeeze you 'til you SQUIRT!" And once you hear that a few times, especially the ascending SQUIRT! at the end, you will always know this species by its song.

thanks, Bob... i initially thought this might be a warbler of some sort, but found out it's a warbling vireo, a "lifer" bird for me...

thanks, John! and yes, they are! hard to catch in the open - they seem to like to tease me from the shelter of the leaves... :(
