Icterdids

I just took down my winter bird feeder yesterday. I kept it going a little longer than usual because of the common redpolls which refused to leave for their more northerly summer home; the last one left April 30th. But because I kept feeding longer, I was beset also by opportunistic common grackles, red-winged black birds, and even a couple brown-headed cowbirds. The latter, at least, provided a couple of good shot opportunities.

Both beautiful images. The lighting on the second one is awesome.

Thank you, Melissa. I actually had my exposure compensation dialed down a bit, trying to compensate for the exposure on dark birds, when this fellow flew in. I had to hurriedly shoot anyway and, though the exposure was initially a bit dark, the result processed just fine.

Thank you. RWBs are indeed photogenic, though getting the exposure right can be tough.
