This was my first attempt at painting with light, so be kind

This is a single shot in my pitch black garage, painting the light with my phone. I had to darken the background in post way more than I wanted to due to some clutter, but three bikes, a trailer, and a car in a two car garage tends to do that. I would be interested in anyone’s tips and tricks, or links to useful videos or articles, as I found this quite fun.

I see you are using the 6D2, the "Canon Connect" app and WIFI is a great resource for light painting. Make sure you use a tripod. Any camera movement will effect stacking images accurately. If the exposure is long enough you are able to walk in front of the camera without being seen.
I would say 4-ish second exposure for a bike is good. You will probably use 3-5 photos for the finished product. Using masks in Photoshop will "reveal" the desired areas.

Thanks for the response. That’s actually exactly what I did, but I set the shutter to 30s and painted the whole bike in one exposure. I’ll practice with taking multiple shots next time.

Thank you. I used a clear glass sphere placed on black acrylic. The lines come from an LED Light strip glued to a 4 foot section of PVC pipe spray painted black. After beginning the exposure, I slowly moved the LED lights from left to right. And voila, the final result.
