Found this guy on the pool skimmer this afternoon. Not entirely sure what it is, maybe a running crab spider? Or a juvenile orb weaver of some sort? In any case, he let me shoot a few:

6D equppied with MPE-65 and Yongnuo ring flash

Prefer #1 - looks like a lynx spider.
Some stacking errors in #2

I have that ring flash as well, how do you stop the shiny effect on beetles etc?

Yes, I'm still figuring out Zerene Stacker. I've only used it a few times and I definitely need more practice.

I thought it was a jumper when I first saw it, but I think Lynx spider is right on. Thank you LordV and A-PeeR: http://bugguide.net/node/view/282539 (external link)

I think it would be hard to prevent using the ring flash (or any other for that matter) without some sort of additional diffusion. I like using the ring flash when I'm in a hurry, because I can quickly grab it and go when I see something on the spur of the moment I want to photograph. If I prepare in advance, I have another setup using a 430 EX II flash and a Vello mini-softbox on a ball head grip that would work better for more reflective things.

Bob
