This is the first time I have tried to use off camera flash with the above wireless configuration. I am using this setup with my 5D and 1D MK III. I have followed all instructions carefully but can't get things working as needed. The flash output is too low. I have tried a few settings including using ETTL and manual. The trigger is firing the flash but it appears that the flash exposure is not correct. The flash on camera is working just fine.
I would greatly appreciate any assistance.
Thank you.

Is the 580EX listed as compatible with that receiver? I ask because the 580EX is not completely controllable through its hotfoot.

The 580ex is one of the flashes that can't be controlled remotely if I remember correctly. You can still trigger it via the rt system but would need to set the flash settings on the back of the flash unit.

Thank you. It looks like you are correct. I was not aware of this. I obviously did not do enough research before purchasing the system.

No prob. It still comes in handy I use the e3-rx's to trigger two of my strobes using the e3-rt can't control the strobe power settings remotely but still allows me to use them with my rt system.

Thanks for the info. I can see how they can still be handy with the equipment that I have, and could be more useful in the future if and when I decide to update my equipment.
