British-style crosswords, also called cryptic crosswords, use clues that are the furthest thing from straight definitions. Puns, anagrams, and other forms of wordplay are used. The solver has to take the clue apart and figure out what it means. The clue "Chinese flower" will go to the name of some river in China because . . .

. . . a river flows.

You're welcome. I guess there aren't too many puzzle people here? And thanks, about my image. I usually vote in POTN #XXX but don't enter, as most of my shots with that camera are just bug macros good enough for ID only, if that.

OK< that makes sense, I reckon. I've never played a crossword like that; sounds interesting.

I like puzzles but usually ones with numbers or sometime trivia. Vocabulary is not my strongest point and spelling...well, let's just say that I rely heavily on spellchecker! :-D
