Big Panda, the world's largest biplane and air show favorite crashed today in Southern California.

Eh...a little bondo, a little sandpaper, that'll buff right out :p (glad to hear everyone walked away). Always sad to see these happen.

I think I have a film shot of a Czech version of that one taken along the Czech border back in the 80's. Need to find it and scan it in.

Was that a bomb lying against the fence?

Ouch. We have (had?) a Hungarian registered AN-2 doing the UK airshow circuit, although I haven't seen her in a couple of years. Just one pedants note, the AN-2 is the world's largest single engined biplane. There are quite a lot of significantly bigger multi engined biplanes around although they all seem to be in museums, which is a bit of a shame. I'd love to see one of the big Handley Page types in the air, maybe an O-400 or one of the big biplane airlines they built for Imperial Airways.

A sky diving company in Gatineau Quebec has one and at the last full version of Wings over Gatineau they flew both the largest & smallest single engine biplanes together. They were rather high up on a dull day when they got together but you get an idea of the difference in size.
