Hi,

So here is my issue. I just upgraded to the 80D from the 60D thanks to the Buydig deal. Loving the 80D so far. However my goto flash the YN565EX is not working on the new camera. Here are the facts. The flash works perfect on and off the 60D never had any issues. On the 80D the flash seems to work right if it is wireless and adjustments on the camera change on the flash. The problem occurs when the flash is mounted to the hotshoe. When entering the menus on the camera I get an incompatible or no flash error but I can access the menus and make changes to the external flash. However the flash power is inconsistent, It goes from very dark(almost black), to proper exposure, to way blown out, almost like it is bracketing. Also the assist beam never fires, weather or not it is enabled in the menu. For what it's worth, my canon 430ex II works perfect on the 80D.

So am I out of luck? Any insight on the issue would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Joe

Heya,

Sadly the 565 seems to be the black sheep of the YN flashes in terms of compatibility, they fixed those compatibility issues with the 568 & 685.

I'd sell the 565 and grab a 685 and be good to go.

Very best,
