On Saturday 09/15/2018, the last Delta-II launched from Vandenberg AFB at 6:02AM. I shot from the Manhattan Beach Pier about 120mi away. The flame shot was at about 2min (forgot to calibrate my camera's time .) after launch and the 1st stage separation shot was around 4min 30sec after launch . For the heck of it, I turned in those shots over to KABC7 and they used the separation shot in their newscasts that day. I forgot to tell my wife about it and she was at a relative's house when it came on the news - surprised the heck out of her when she heard my name . Even with the 500mmII, I had to crop over 99% out of both shots and then up-res them. I might try my 1.4xIII next time but I was worried about cranking-up the ISO this time. There's a Falcon 9 launch tentatively scheduled for October 6th but no time posted yet.

Feeding Frenzy -- A sea lion returns from the hunt with a Chinook salmon, which is torn asunder. Seagulls swarm for any scraps that they can scavenge.

Cheating because this is not So Cal, more like SoCal adjacent - Monterey area. But nonetheless.
