Wow!! These are great shots. Everything about them is wonderful - subject, background, the reflections. I am impressed.

Very nice shots Trevor. I really like the last one, looks like the lens was almost getting wet!

Had to be laying in the weeds at eye level. Great shots.

That is pretty much on point. I was lying on the waters edge, directly to the right of a larch stand of marsh grass. I tend not to wade" through" grass as nests can be hard to see, depends on how thick, but where I was is very thick.

I have a waterproof tarp that I bring with me to lay on, so I don't get muddy... ok as muddy. I get muddy no matter what, it just helps. It's basically the smallest tarp I could buy, being not much bigger then me. It works though, as it really sets the birds at ease. Its not a blind as the birds can definitely see me, but if I were to stand up, there's no way I would have gotten this close. In fact there were ibis, avocets, stilts and some godwits all puttering around me. When I had had enough, (nearing noon when the light was getting harsh) I stood up, and wham, everything flew away in no time.

I have to say this though, even though I'm a fairly young man. Lying on the ground for hours takes a toll on the back. The ibis and the godwits, took quite some time before they came to where I was. My back was screaming at me, but I just couldn't pass up the shots.

Thanks for that background, very informative - I may try that sometime (although I am not a fairly young woman, lol)
