We encountered two favorite sparrow species on a field trip earlier in the week, the Harris's and white-crowned. When we're out in the western states, I get a little tired of seeing white-crowned sparrows. But they're not so common here and they're headed north into some of my favorite Canadian haunts, so I always enjoy an encounter.

There will be days when you get the shot(s) you missed days, months or years before.

Very nice shots Al. We had some Harris's winter here and recently several White Crowned have been frantically feeding in my yard early mornings and I've not taken a photo. They will soon be gone for another year and I will regret not having tried.

Great work Al. Two great shots! Harris's are among my favorite too, always happy to see them here in the winter. To bad about the twig going across it's back though. Maybe some clone work to try to get that out.

Thank you all very much for your kind comments. I thought about trying to remove the blade of grass from the Harris's back, but it would be a tough job. I just couldn't get a clear shot of him despite moving a couple times. I did get a clear shot of one later in the day though.
