Hi,
When I use back button focusing (one shot), 70D doesn't show active focus point with red box when I am viewing image. It doesn't show up in DPP also. It works with when I focus with shutter button. Initially I thought, it is a problem with Sigma lens. But this issue is there with Canon lens as well. Can someone confirm if it is how this functionality works.

Thanks

Sounds like you have it in AI-Servo.

You are aware that if you want to SEE the red square, on-camera and/or in DPP, you have to actively turn that feature on, right?

It works fine with AI-Servo and BBF. It shows active focus points with red box. Sometimes multiple focus points as well with red box. It doesn't show active focus point with red box during image review / DPP, with One shot using BBF.

Thanks

If you are using BBF, without AF on the shutter you have to actually be holding the button down while you shoot. If you press and release the BBF and then shoot there is no AF point indication because there is no active AF point, since the AF is now "OFF". If you are tracking the subject with AIServo then the AF is active. If you do as many do and keep the camera in AIServo, and use the BBF to "lock" the AF on a subject by releasing the button then again the AF is not active and no indication, either on the camera LCD nor in any program that supports the indication of AF points.

If you want to see the "active" AF point you have to have the AF active.

Thanks for the information Alan. That is exactly what is happening. When I am taking pics of static subjects, I am focusing with BBF and leave the button before pressing shutter button. Even Though, dpp doesn't show active AF with box, pics are fine in terms of focus area.

Thanks

Of course they are. You focused before you took the picture. But there's no active focus point when you take the picture. Thus no-one is shown when you look at the picture later either.
