Hey guys, I've been searching for a new bag to carry my 5D mk3 and a few small lenses for family outings and general purpose walk-around stuff or light travel. Think Tank has come out with a few new bags since I bought my Retro 10 a few years ago. And, for reason I can quite explain (thats a confession for another post I think) I've found myself with a few less zoom and a few more primes. I won't always need the bulk and space that the Retro 10 offeres. Not to mention, the more space, the more I am likely to try to fill it, and the heavier bag I end up with.

Anyway, I really like the Retrospective series. I think the 7 was relatively new when I bought the 10. In hindsight, I think I wish I had gone that route, but regardless, I need something smaller now. So the debate was on, 5... 7.... or the new 6? There really isn't a lot out there about the 6 yet and you just can't get any honest idea trying to sit at your desk with a lens and a ruler. I was afraid the 7 would be too close in size to the 10, and I couldn't justify both. The 5 seemed tempting for a small load-out but I just couldn't be sure that I wouldn't feel too crowded. You just can't plan for everything, so I bit the bullet and bought the 6. I have to say, I think this is exactly what I was looking for, so I thought I would share for anyone else that might be curious.

The Retrospective series by now, needs no introduction. All of the standard features found on the other Retrospective bags, and all of the quality you an expect from Think Tank. So here is the bag compared to the 10. I opted to try the new Sandstone color this time. I like it!

And a few load-out options. I don't have my 50L at the moment, so pictured here is the 85L and the 16-35. From what I could gather online, the 24-70 mk2 should be about the same height as the 16-35. Don't have one to confirm, so maybe someone can back me up on this. I don't have one, but its been on my list for a while. No plans, but maybe some day...maybe. If so, I wanted to have that option.

16-35 mounted, 85L standing up on the right. Plenty of room for a 50L or 35L on the left.

16-35 on the right, 85L laying down on the left. Plenty or room for a lens mounted in the middle.

600 EX-RT. A little tall, but do-able if needed. 85L mounted, 16-35 on the right.

Fits pretty well in the front pocket though. Don't anticipate bringing a flash with this bag, I have other options for that.

Hope this helps, or is at least useful to someone.
